I can. Sliced off just the very tip, like the very end of the pad towards the nail. Still, ouch is very right. Kinda freaks you out if you cut off enough to actually have blood start flowing.
Yeah, I went into a bit of shock and thought I was going to pass out from blood loss before I was able to tell myself that was not possible, given the size of the cut haha.
I’ve done this before. THough I was too young to know what blood loss, shock, and fainting were. So… I just cut off a chunk of my finger on accident and went,’Uhhh… Miss… I’m bleedin’. Can I go to the nurse? D:’ xD
Likewise. Took off an eighth of an inch on my left index finder—they stitched it back on just to cover the wound, since it was the perfect size (how lucky!), but didn’t expect it to take. Surprise! It reattached, though the lines on the fingerprint don’t quite line up. O_o
This was 27 years ago. I nicked it just yesterday chopping toasted almonds, and now I’m typing using only nine fingers because it hurts like a mofo.
If you haven’t sliced hell out of yourself with an X-acto knife, you haven’t used an X-acto knife.
In fact, I think that somewhere, along with the specialized blades for linoleum and wood, I have an X-acto replacement thumb blade, designed specifically for the task.
Awww, It’s been a week or two since your last post (it actually feels longer then that but time seems to be going slow for me lately for some reason)…and you were on such a good roll when it came to the updates. What happened? Taking a break? Or is the injured thumb on your drawing hand and you won’t be able to update the comic that much until it heals completely? o:
I did almost the same thing when I was about 11. I was trying to carve a chopstick into an arrow with a pocket knife. Now I have a cool little curved scar on my left thumb.
Glad to see ya posting again, even though its been a while since the newest. Im liking the new direction your art is going in. The most interesting scar on me, other than the bullet scars from military service, is from riding on the hood of a chevy pickup. Stomped the breaks and i slid down over the bull horns hood emblem……..ouch!
Happy birthday!
I found this comic early this semester and it’s really helped me through some crazy stuff that’s happened to me. I hope you’re doing alright (and I hope this message isn’t nearly as creepy as I currently feel writing it) so again… Happy birthday Carey!
Ouch. I can’t imagine.

Oh, and welcome back!
She’s back!
Have to say I missed your comic randomness these past few months.
Glad you’re doing fine and are back at it!
Nothing quite like a finger slicing story to bring all the boys to the yard.
Also, obligatory welcome back post.
I actually have a scar on my left index finger shaped like the letter L. I got it from cutting a crab-apple with a pocket knife.

that was a lie. it’s been a few months shy of a year since you said that. Sad Robert is sad. T^T
I know I’m impressed, in the good way.
Deformities? Thats hot.
It seems you’re doing it right…

Oops! Forgot to mention that it’s good to see you doing comics again.

cool comic. good job. i like it
I miss this comic ):
I know!!!! I hope she is doing okay and can return someday!
She’s doing fine. Graphic Design is just really stressful for all of us, especially last semester.
Me too!
Hope she picks this up again after she finishes school. As a fellow Graphic design major graduating this year I feel her pain in terms of “Busy.”
